The Florence Hotel Machiavelli Palace was originally a small 14th century convent which had been added to the side of the Church of San Jacopo in Campo Corbolini.
The church was founded in 1206 and belonged to the Knight Templars since 1256.
Two noble families, the Bartolini and the Salimbeni, bought the convent and trasformed it into a gentlemen's residence.
The hotel facade bears the families' coat of arms.
Today's, Florence Hotel Machiavelli Palace maintains elements of the ancient charm of the original palace.
It was completely refurbished in 1999. Particular care was taken to maintain the authentic atmosphere rendered by its frescoes, panelled ceilings and pietra-serena ornaments.
